The fishing has stayed the same despite the winds and heat. We’ve had nice catches of over slot Red Fish, big Blues and huge Sharks. The Flounder bite is starting to pick up again. Now that we have some nice Finger Mullet around we should start seeing some good numbers and sizes of these fish. Near shore we have been catching Spanish Mackerel in the 3 and 4 pound range, we have been catching them by trolling and by sight casting to some of these fish. Check out the pictures below of today and the past weeks catches.

The fishing is really starting to take off. We’ve had nice catches of over slot Red Fish, big Blues and huge Sharks. The Flounder bite is still going strong. Now that we have some nice Finger Mullet around we should start seeing some good numbers and sizes of these fish. Near shore we have been catching Spanish Mackerel in the 3 and 4 pound range, we have been catching them by trolling and by sight casting to some of these fish.

Fishing is in full swing at Carolina Beach, with Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder and King Mackerel. We have been catching nice size Flounder up and down the ICW and Carolina Beach Inlet with some of these fish between the 2-10 lb range using live menhaden fished on a Carolina Rig. Right off shore we’ve been catching lots of Bluefish at some of the near by reefs and nice Spanish trolling up and down the beaches or by site casting there also have been some good size Kings mixed in with these Spanish.

Fishing out of Carolina and Wrightsville Beach has been doing well and we have been catching everything from upper slot Redfish, Flounder, Spanish & Kings to name a few. The Redfish and Flounder are biting well on live Menhaden and cut Mullet and if you catch one of those annoying Pinfish he makes a great Flounder bait as well. Just cut into 1 inch strips about 3 to 4 inches long kinda like a yield sign, they love it.

We’ve been catching Redfish along the docks in the ICW using live bait, the best tides have been the falling tide. We have not been able to turn around some of these drag screamers.

The offshore action has been on fire lately with Spanish and King Mackerel. The Spanish have been right outside the inlets catching them by trolling or sight casting. King’s are also mixed in but the bigger ones have been anywhere from 5 to 10 miles out even with a few nice Mahi being caught.

Water temps are in the 80s and the fishing has been great with nice catches of Flounder, Speckled Trout and Red Drum using live bait on a Carolina Rig. Live bait is still everywhere and Finger Mullet should start showing up anytime, I can’t wait. We’ve been catching Flounder all along the ICW and Carolina Beach Inlet. The Speckled Trout bite is still good along the Cape Fear River using live Shrimp on float rigs and artificial DOAs.

Red Drum are showing up along the dock’s in the ICW and Carolina Beach Inlet with some nice sizes, remember you are only allowed one fish per person per day (must be 18″ - 27″ long) but what a fight they put on.

Right offshore the Spanish Mackerel are showing up in good numbers, what a blast to sight cast to. There have also been some nice King’s mixed in with the Spanish.

Shark fishing is just around the corner so if you want a fight they will be more than glad to give you one that you won’t forget.

So grab the kids and let’s go fishing.

Carolina Beach Fishing Report - 06/2/10

Carolina Beach fishing is finely starting to turn on with live bait everywhere. Despite the boat traffic on Memorial Day Weekend I was finally able to take my family out and catch some really nice Red Fish. Speckled Trout are biting really well in the Cape Fear River, also catching some nice Flounder in the ICW/Carolina Beach Inlet along with lots of Blue Fish. Near shore we are starting to see some nice size Spanish Mackerel with some Kings mixed in.

Carolina Beach Fishing Report - 05/15/10

Carolina Beach fishing is heating up with catches of Redfish, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel and Blues. Live bait is the best choice right now. The Menhaden are thick all up and down the river now and fished on a Carolina Rig is the way to go.

I fished yesterday with some great guys from Ft Bragg and despite the windy conditions we were able to catch some really nice fish. It started with some over slot Redfish and a few keepers and by the end of the day we had a variety packed with Redfish, Flounder, Blues and Sharks. Carolina Beach Fishing Report - 04/26/10

Inshore Carolina Beach fishing - the water temp is up and getting better as days go on. So book your trip today for a fun day of fishing.

Virginia Mullet is still biting well around the Bald Head Islandarea, fresh shrimp not frozen on a two drop bottom rig works well. Also some really nice Speckled Trout have been caught the past couple of days. In the Cape Fear River around the islands live shrimp and new penny DOA are working great. The Red Drum are also starting to bite well around the docks of the ICW anywhere from Carolina Beach to Wrightsville Beach.

Near Shore - Bluefish and Bonito are starting to show up so its time to start jigging Sting Silvers Gottcha Plugs. It seems that the fish are getting hungry so whatever you have in that tackle box might work.

In the surf, catches of Bluefish and some small Flounder have been reported. It won’t be much longer to start catching some nice Flounder we need the water temp around 68 degrees so be patient. Live pogies, cut mullet or mud minnows should work well.

Flounder, Speckled Trout and Blues at Carolina Beach - 10/19/09

We have had execellent fall fishing, water temp is down in the 70s and the fish are moving. We’ve had nice catches this past weekend of Speckled Trout, big Blues and citation Flounders. The Flounder bite is on with some of these fish ranging from 2.5 to over 5 lbs this past week. Live bait has been the choice of baits, fished on a Carolina Rig. Check out the pictures below from this past weekends fishing trip.
